Traditionally, the round of the French Ligue 1 is closed with a derby. This Sunday, Monaco and Lyon will face each other as they aim to position themselves in the Top 3 this season. The “kids” are starting the current campaign stronger, and even without European commitments, they seem to be among the favorites for a good ranking. The season for Monaco is not developing in the best way, but the last week was successful for the team. It was their first defeat since the beginning of the season, which was developing almost perfectly. Prior to that loss, Lyon had recorded four wins and finished tied with Reims. The team has demonstrated quite a good performance so far, beating Troyes 4:1 and Angers 5:0.
Last season, these two sides exchanged a 2-0 win each, with Monaco ending Lyon’s run of four in a row in league games against this opposition. Certainly the returning favorites in the visitors’ lineup, Lacazette and Tolisso, raise the class of the team and motivate the players on the field. It is the Cubs who are my favorite to succeed today, although they are still without an away win on the season. However, Monaco have lost their last two home games and are winless in any of their four from the start of the season.
